What kinds of things can I use the studio for?

With almost 1000 sq ft of open space, Studio on the Fox is ideal for headshots, branding sessions, family portraits, styled shoots, content creation, workshops, and certain small events. In addition to the production area, there are 2 spacious bathrooms, an office and an area with a minifridge, microwave and coffee maker. The natural light and flexible layout make it a favorite among photographers and creatives. As a working photo studio, we don’t have dining tables, chairs, or a kitchen setup. For that reason, we aren’t able to host private celebrations like birthday parties or showers.

How's the light? And sound?

The studio’s south-facing windows provide consistent, flattering light from morning to late afternoon. It’s especially magical during golden hour. You are welcome to bring your own lighting equipment or we have a growing selection of items for rent. The unit is in a building with another business and residential apartments. The thick walls are great buffers but some sound does get through.

Can I use the furniture, backdrops and props?

Yes! You’re welcome to use the furniture, request a backdrop, browse our props or bring your own to suit your session. We offer a basic tools like reflectors, light/backdrop stands, clamps/tape and an array of backdrops, including 4 seamless paper backdrops set up on our remote-control operated rollers. Specialty gear is reserved for members. We just ask that everything is returned to its original place afterward and please, for the love of God, NO GLITTER!

Is there parking available?

Yes! Free parking is available nearby, including street parking and a private lot in the rear of the building. We’ll send parking tips with your booking confirmation.

Is the studio wheelchair accessible?

Great question. The studio is located on street level with no stairs inhibiting the use of wheelchairs through the front door. The 2 doors are not automated but are 36" wide and can be opened 90 degrees or more. While we strive to be inclusive, the studio is located in a historic building and accessibility may be limited. Please contact us in advance so we can accommodate your needs as best we can.

Cleaning Policy

Please leave the studio as you found it. Furniture and props may be rearranged, but must be returned to their original positions. Absolutely no glitter, confetti, smoke bombs, or open flames. Our studio is photographed constantly and you are responsible for any damage caused to the building, furniture or equipment.

Cancelation Policy, Capacity and Other good things to know:

Cancellations made within 24 hours of booking are eligible for a full refund. After 24 hours, we offer studio credit or the ability to reschedule. Capacity is 16. Studio rental includes Wi-Fi access. Your rental time includes setup and breakdown. Overtime will be billed in 30-minute increments, pending studio availability.

What’s the difference between renting and becoming a member?

Renters can request to book the studio by the hour with a 2-hour minimum, with no obligation. Members get perks like priority booking, member‑only gear, creative events, and a collaborative environment built for photographers who want to grow alongside others.

Do I have to apply to become a member?

Yes, membership is curated to ensure a respectful, collaborative space. The application helps us make sure it’s a good fit for both you and the studio.

Is membership a good fit for me?

Not everyone is looking for more than a place to shoot, and that’s totally fine. If you’d rather keep things solo, the studio is always available to rent and enjoy on your own. Membership, though, is for photographers who want to be part of something bigger. Membership is a fit if you’re the kind of creative who loves to: Show Up for Others connecting with creatives, sharing your work, and cheering on members. Collaborate & Create alongside peers in a spirit of collaboration, lifting each other up instead of competing to produce work that’s bigger, bolder, and more impactful than going it alone. Share Resources Generously being considerate of studio and member resources and open to sharing for everyone’s benefit. How are the membership fees paid?

When you join as a member, you’ll choose a 3‑ or 6‑month contract and pay a one‑time $50 application fee. Your first monthly payment is due by the first of the following month, with all future payments also billed on the first. You’ll have the option to renew your membership 30 days before your term ends.

What are the benefits for a 6-month contract?

Your spot is secured. Six‑month members are invited to renew first before upgrades and spots are released. In addition, you invest in us, we invest in you. Photographers with 6-month contracts will have their bio + website link featured on studio website (great for SEO), bio + examples of work showcased at studio, and social media shout-outs and reposts of your work.

Can non-members come to meet-ups and events at the studio?

Great question. Currently, members get first choice to attend events, depending on the capacity for the event, there may be spaces open to the public.

Can I hire a Studio on the Fox member for my project/session?

Absolutely. Our members offer a wide variety of photography services. You can browse their profiles on the members page and contact them directly through their listed websites or social media pages.

Does the studio handle booking or payments for member photographers?

No, all bookings, rates, and communication are handled directly between you and the photographer.

Does the studio guarantee the quality of a photographer’s work?

No, each photographer operates independently. We encourage you to review their portfolio and connect with them directly to ensure they’re the right fit.

Can I book a photographer and the studio together?

Photographers handle their own bookings, and studio rental is separate. Your photographer can help you coordinate studio time if needed.

Do members offer on‑location shoots, or only studio sessions?

Many offer both. Their profile will note whether they shoot exclusively in‑studio, on‑location, or a mix of both.
